Am I Employed?  Am I Retired?
by Dr. Glenn Mathews

Those are two interesting questions. The answer to both questions is YES AND NO! I will explain. As to the first question, AM I UNEMPLOYED? I am an employee of Revival Crusade, Inc. (RCI) an the Board of Directors sets my salary. So, I am not employed in the narrow sense of the word. This article is being prepared on 12/6/06. I do not have meetings scheduled during this December. However, I am not receiving honorariums to be put in the treasury of RCI. In the broad sense of unemployed, for this month, I am not an income producing employee.

As an aside, you may wonder why I am not conducting meetings during December. There is a simple reason: churches do not usually schedule revivals, Bible and/or Prophecy Conferences between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. Their calendars are filled with Christmas Plays, Parties, Cantatas, etc.

That is why we have often taken Mission Trips in late November and early December.  That is why we have often taken Mission Trips in late November and early December.

At age 71, I don’t think I could pastor a church and handle the responsibilities of administration, visitation, budgeting, etc. The truth is, I wasn’t that fond of those things when I was a pastor. BUT! Thank God, I can still pray, study and preach radio broadcasts, travel and preach/teach the Word of God. For how many more years will I/we be able to continue with this kind of ministry? I don’t know. I do know that we have invitations to return to every country where we have ministered. We have invitations to other countries that we have been unable to accept. I thoroughly enjoy the overseas work, although it is physically tiring and expensive. When we are overseas, not only are we not earning honorariums, but are also providing for the needs of our hosts AND drawing upon the financial resources of RCI. But, we see many more decisions for Christ in other countries than we do in the USA, and that is the joy of our hearts.

Assuming that you are a praying person, I am asking you to join with Fleta and me for several requests. I list them, although not in any particular order. Pray with us … that God will continue to bless us with good health and traveling mercies … that God will empower our preaching/teaching and give results that will glorify Him … that God will open the doors of ministry (here and abroad) that He wants us to go through … and that the financial needs of RCI will be met, including sufficient funds for the missionaries that RCI supports. Thank you for visiting our web site. I ask that you stop now for a moment and pray for the needs of the ministries to be met in accordance with the will of God.
